Orsalia Lambropoulou LL.M, MSc

Mental Health Counsellor – Integrative Psychotherapist
My name is Orsalia Lampropoulou. I was born and raised in the center of Athens, where I also completed my first studies in Law.

In 1992 I went to the Netherlands for postgraduate studies, but many more things followed: love, family, travels around the world, as well as my first degree in Integrative Counselling. I lived in The Hague for 28 years and worked in the fields of international law and human rights (International Criminal Court, The Hague), education (British School in the Netherlands), and mental health (Counselling Europe, The Hague), mainly dealing with issues such as crisis and conflict management, expatriation/transition, psychological empowerment and skills development, dysfunctional behaviors, anxiety, loss, and grief.

In 2020, with the arrival of Covid, life decided for me and brought me back to Greece for good. In 2021 I received a certificate in psychopathology from Deree College, while at the same time I began postgraduate studies in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy (MSc Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy, University of Derby, UK).

I have been a professional member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) since 2005, as well as an accredited Mediator registered with the Ministry of Justice since 2016. At present, I am in the process of certification as an Adult Educator in the instructor registry of the University of Thessaly, while working privately as a Counsellor-Psychotherapist and as a collaborator of Roots Wellness Center in Kallithea and Cholargos–Papagou.

THE HUMAN BEING AT THE CENTER

My life’s path, from International Law and Education to Counselling and Psychotherapy, has always had one constant focus: the human being. My involvement in psychotherapy has taught me that, from Freud to the most contemporary approaches, there is a common ground: the understanding and acceptance of human nature. How did I become who I am? There are reasons why I feel, think, and behave in a particular way—just as there are reasons for the client sitting across from me. Our stories are not the same, but our “creative adjustments to the world around us” (Mearns and Thorne, 1988) inevitably meet in the psychotherapy room and interact. On this foundation—the relationship—I work integratively with the other person, drawing elements from person-centered, psychodynamic, and cognitive-behavioral theory.

I dream of many things, I do as many as I can. I am engaged in expressive writing, music, and singing. My favorite fantasy is that I play the guitar and sing on stage with Joni Mitchell.
