Psychologist – Systemic Psychotherapist
“We are parts of an interconnected whole.” – Gregory Bateson

“The problem is the problem, and the person is the person.” – Michael White

My name is Akis Bacharakis. I am a Sociologist (Panteion University), Psychologist (University of East London) and a Systemic Psychotherapist (Center for Systemic Study and Therapy).

From a very young age, I was driven by an active curiosity about the ways in which human behaviors are organized and given meaning. My sociological interests gradually allowed me to understand the importance of the environment in which each of us lives, in shaping the thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and habits that we ultimately develop. At the same time, beginning my personal journey of searching for meaning, I soon realized that people are not only shaped by their relationships, but are also capable of shaping them.

Engaging with Psychology and Systemic Psychotherapy has shown me, in the most vivid way, people’s ability to discover skills in the here and now, to reprocess past experiences with new perspectives, to be empowered, and ultimately to change the ways in which they relate both to others and to themselves. These are the guiding principles of my practice.

My goal is to accompany the people I meet along their therapeutic journey, always guided by empathy, active listening, collaboration, and a focus on the available supportive resources of each individual. Giving great importance to these values, I seek continuous professional development by participating in a wide range of seminars, many of which focus on anxiety, depression, grief, addictions, parental counselling, EMDR, creative play, psychological resilience, emotional regulation, and more.

I have volunteered at EPAPSY (Association for Regional Development and Mental Health), KSDEO Edra, and the Margarita Special Education Workshop, while I have also participated in research at the University Research Institute of Mental Health on the use of addictive substances and other addictive behaviors.
