Systemic Approach

“Therapy is a space where people can rewrite their story with new words and new voices.”

Lynn Hoffman

“Change is born from dialogue, not instructions.”

Harlene Anderson

The Systemic approach views the individual within their network of relationships, utilizes their resources, and respects the subjectivity and polyphony that each story brings.

The Systemic Approach in Psychotherapy

  • Systemic psychotherapy views the individual as part of a broader network of relationships such as family, friends, professional groups, and community. Every experience, emotion, or behavior gains meaning within this network of interactions and is influenced by the way members of a system connect and communicate with each other.

  • In the systemic approach, it is considered that the reality we live in is not absolute but is constructed by us through our experiences and the way we interpret them. The therapist does not impose a 'correct' truth but accompanies the client in a process of exploration, recognition, and reconstruction of meanings.

  • Space is given to the many and different voices and perspectives that coexist in a family, group, or even within an individual—and strength is drawn from the resources that each person and each system possesses, even if these are not immediately visible. Through dialogue, mutual understanding, and the enhancement of these resources, new possibilities for growth and connection are created.

  • The therapist's stance is central: characterized by genuine interest, respect, acceptance, and curiosity about the way the client sees the world. The therapist acts as a mirror and at the same time as a companion, facilitating the process of change without losing sight of the bigger picture.

  • The systemic approach can support children, adolescents, adults, and families, covering a wide range of needs—from managing crises and conflicts to enhancing communication skills and improving relationships with oneself and others. The goal is not only to solve problems but to empower and create a life framework richer in meaning, balance, and support.
